Molecules in Motion

http://mc2.cchem.berkeley.edu/Java/molecules/index.html

I have a lesson to teach for a job interview this week, so I've been looking for animations or simulations about kinetics. I found this applet through one of the links Jessica sent me in a recent blog post.

This is EXACTLY what using simulations and animations is all about. Taking a principle that can not be seen-- in this case, the motion of gas particles-- and making it something that can be seen and understood. I'm not sure if I'm going to use it in this lesson, but it's helping me to feel a lot better about using technology, and the place for these materials in the classroom.

This sounds great! I hope we can connect Thursday. I will put in a good word. We need all the techies we can get over there - there is a lot of great stuff happening! I will get w/ Taylor Smith about your schedule. Have you met Scott Jevic? He also teaches Chemistry. I have a feeling you guys would hit it off! If time permits do you want to come to one of my classes? We will use the Navigator.

Stay in touch this week,
Beth

The Java Applet is great. It is interactive, but how would you structure activities for students to use this site?
